VPIX Medical Obtains NET Certification for 'Real-Time Fluorescence Confocal Microscopy Technology' Used During Surgery

VPIX Medical (CEO Hwang Kyung-min) announced on the 25th that its cCeLL device has received New Excellent Technology (NET) certification from the Ministry of Health and Welfare for "Ex vivo intraoperative fluorescence confocal microscopy."

This certification is valid from June 21, 2024, to June 20, 2026. The technology was recognized for its high potential in clinical efficacy, especially in brain tumor surgery, and offers faster and more accurate diagnoses compared to conventional methods.

This recognition is expected to accelerate global market entry and further collaborations with public institutions.

Additionally, the technology has demonstrated its potential through domestic multicenter clinical trials (Korea University Anam Hospital, Seoul National University Hospital, Samsung Medical Center). 

A scientific paper published in Scientific Reports in March 2024 showed that the cCeLL - Ex vivo technology provided diagnostic speeds more than 50% faster than traditional frozen tissue biopsies, with approximately 90% accuracy. 

This is expected to improve communication between surgeons and pathologists, minimizing residual cancer cells and maximizing healthy tissue preservation.

CEO Hwang Kyung-min stated that the company plans to validate the clinical efficacy of this technology through ongoing international multicenter trials. He also highlighted the technology's applicability to various cancers, 

such as gastric, pancreatic, and prostate cancers, and its potential integration with AI diagnostic tools.

VPIX Medical has been conducting research since 2021 at its lab located within the Seoul Biohub and aims to lead medical innovation and enhance its global competitiveness through continued support from facilities like Seoul Biohub.
