VPIX Medical recently announced that the results of a joint research project on a new medical device capable of real-time margin analysis during Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection (ESD) for gastric cancer were published in the renowned journal NPJ Precision Oncology.

The device combines confocal laser endomicroscopy (CLE) technology with AI diagnostic algorithms from JLK.

Clinical trials showed a diagnostic accuracy of 96.4% for cancer detection and 99% for classification.

The research also demonstrated the ease of integrating AI with the cCeLL platform.

Researchers are aiming for product approval by 2025, with potential applications for various cancers such as brain and prostate cancers.

The study was funded by the Pan-Ministerial Medical Device Research and Development Project.

Hwang Kyung-min, CEO of VPIX Medical, emphasized that this achievement demonstrates the synergy between advanced hardware and AI technologies, with the goal of addressing unmet needs in medical care.

VPIX Medical is based in the Seoul Biohub, a biotech startup platform operated by KIST and Korea University.
