70th Women Leaders in Science and Technology Forum Successfully Held on the Theme "Data Science for Humanity"

- Highlighting the Future of Data Science and the Role of Women Scientists and Engineers
The Korean Federation of Women's Science and Technology Associations (KWSE), led by President Kwon Oh-nam, successfully held the 70th Women Leaders in Science and Technology Forum on the theme "Data Science for Humanity and the Role of Women Scientists and Engineers" at The Plaza Hotel on the 17th. This forum drew significant attention by highlighting the importance of data science and the role of women in science and technology.
Mi Young Cha, a research director at the Max Planck Institute in Germany, served as the keynote speaker, leading an in-depth discussion on issues such as the integrity of information in the era of artificial intelligence, the truth behind fake news, and the choices and decisions faced by women scientists and engineers. Director Cha emphasized the need for interdisciplinary research, arguing for the breakdown of academic boundaries.
The forum was moderated by Kim Eun-sun, Director of the Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information (KISTI), with Professor Mok In-hee from Seoul National University College of Medicine chairing the panel discussion. Hyun-sil Ahn, head of the People's Coalition for Realizing a Rightful Science and Technology Society, presented on "The Role of Women Scientists for Humanity," while Yoon-jung Choi, a director at KISTI, discussed "The Key Role of Women Scientists and Engineers in Data Science." Kyung-min Hwang, CEO of VPIX Medical, talked about "The Role of Entrepreneurs as Women Scientists and Engineers."
This forum provided an important opportunity to explore the crucial roles that women scientists and engineers can play in solving the complex problems facing humanity through data science. The "Women Leaders in Science and Technology Forum" aims to inspire leadership among women scientists and engineers, enhance their innovative capabilities, and drive social awareness changes for sustainable scientific and technological development and an inclusive cultural expansion.
