VPIX Medical Inc. Receives Minister of Health and Welfare Award for Excellence in Healthcare Technology Commercialization
2024-12-19
VPIX Medical Inc. has developed a near-infrared-based ultra-compact fluorescence microscope and was honored with the Minister of Health and Welfare Award at the 2024 Healthcare Technology Commercialization Excellence Awards.
Hosted annually by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Korea Health Industry Development Institute (KHIDI), the awards recognize individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to healthcare entrepreneurship and technology commercialization.
VPIX Medical Inc. has independently developed an ultra-compact fluorescence microscope for cancer surgery utilizing the near-infrared spectrum. The cCeLL - Ex vivo has achieved European CE certification and U.S. FDA approval, while the cCeLL - In vivo has also secured U.S. FDA approval. These achievements have been highly recognized for contributing to the development of the domestic medical device industry and enhancing technological competitiveness.
VPIX Medical Inc.’s real-time digital biopsy platform, cCeLL, comprises an in vitro diagnostic device (Ex vivo) and a medical device (In vivo), both of which enable real-time assessment of tissue conditions during surgery. This technology allows surgeons to quickly examine the resection margin of excised tissue or directly assess the affected area to determine the presence of residual cancer cells.
As a resident company of the Seoul BioHub, VPIX Medical Inc. has leveraged the bio-health startup support platform, established by the Seoul Metropolitan Government and operated by the Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) and Korea University, to accelerate technology development and global market entry. With the support of Seoul BioHub, VPIX Medical Inc. has become a successful model for medical device development and technology commercialization, backed by its independent technological capabilities.
Hwang Kyung-min, CEO of VPIX Medical Inc., stated, “Through our innovative cCeLL technology, we are introducing a new paradigm for surgical digital biopsy platforms and contributing to improving the quality of life for cancer patients.”
